Men's Physique Competition

Men's Physique Competition

Ken competed in 'Men's Physique' (NPC Western Regional, Mesa, AZ) and placed second in his height class. You may be asking yourself, "What is Men's Physique?" The National Physique Committee (NPC) added this new fitness competition category for 2011 – it features men who can successfully showcase their fit, defined, and muscled bodies, as opposed to the extreme muscularity and shred historically associated with mainstream bodybuilding.

Competitors enter the stage walking in board shorts just above the knee, without a shirt and barefoot. The judging criteria for Men's Physique includes proper shape and symmetry combined with definition and overall condition. The judging criteria also includes presence and personality. Specifically, judges are looking for the contestant with the best stage presence and poise who can successfully convey his personality to the audience.

Now that he placed in regionals, his immediate goal is to become the next International Federation of Body Building and Fitness (IFBB) Men's Physique pro in 2012. His next competition is in May 2012 in Charleston, South Carolina.
